Re: eldelbrock idel?

Throttle cable length is wrong not letting the carb shut all the way down to idle.....

Re: eldelbrock idel?

I done this with the throttle cable off but i just noticed that when i spray carb cleaner around the throttle linkage were it goes in to the carb she will stall. it must be sucking air around there. what can i do to fix this?

Re: eldelbrock idel?

If it's the throttle shaft itself leaking you'll need to order up the bushing's and throttle shaft (if the shaft is worn, too) from Edelbrock.....

Re: eldelbrock idel?

would this be my idleing issue? that air is leaking around the shaft and causeing the car to idle faster? and is this normal for these carbs? THANKS

Re: eldelbrock idel?

The throttle shafts should not be a vacuum leak....on any carb

Unless your cam is over 310 degrees advertised, you got something wrong...

Re: eldelbrock idel?

well, my car was having a miss at low rpm, so one day when adjusting the air/fuel mixture, i decided to kick it up a notch on the idle speed screw.

Most of us try to go for the lowest stable idle possible.. I'd think 1500rpm would have a safety concern as well.

With that said, after looking at your profile, I realize I got my first fbody years before you were born, so I imagine you are still learning.

haha, yeah I am still learning, eventually I will find out why it was having a miss and lower it but right now I am doing the body and the interior.

this is the first car I have worked on, and I am quite proud of myself, with the amount of things I can now say that I have done to a car
