Re: REMOTE START FOR CARB
I'm not sure why regular remote start systems don't work with carb. I have a remote start on my Trans Am and the only thing FI specific I can think of is the tach signal, but even then, I'm pretty sure its the same with a computer controlled carb...maybe its the number for turn overs?

If it opens the throttle enough to set the choke before trying to start the car, it could work.
Re: REMOTE START FOR CARB
well a pump is not what you need. you need it to energize the pump you have if it is electrical. what you would need is a solenoid similar to an a/c signal one to idle the carb up. that would set the throttle to choke. if it was able to throw it back enough and not cause to high an idle.

Re: REMOTE START FOR CARB
I install remote starts for side money and I have never heard of it. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist though.
I installed a remote start on my TBI, then recently swapped to a carb set up. The remote start is still installed, but it will not start unless I tap the throttle first to set the choke. It just keeps cranking.
The tach signal is still there because it is off of the coil, not the ECM. If you have a remote start connected with a tach signal, the remote start uses it to know when to stop cranking. Alternatively, you can set the remote start to a specific time to crank for (without using the tach wire), but if it doesn't start after that time, it doesn't start.

Re: REMOTE START FOR CARB
back from the dead!
I have been thinking about this, I have a remote start in my basement. I was going to get a trunk popping solenoid and tie that into a throttle cable and attach that to the linkage of carb. Press the trunk button a couple times and it primes the system. Hot wire the clutch depression indicator, press the start button, good to go.
