sending unit pics

I have an 82 TA. I pulled my sending unit out of my tank tonight. I have 4 line coming from it. I know the one line is a vent, one is the fuel feed, and the other two go up to the charcoal canister. My question is can I get rid of lines going to the canister. I want to remove that whole system if I can. I am just not sure what it does. I will be installing a LT1 motor in a few months.
Thanks

Actually, 2 lines go to the fuel pump, and one line goes to the vent valve, and one goes to the canister. I don't think you can plug the canister line. I think the tank may collapse if you do. You can probably put a vent over the end of the line.

But the whole canister system can be removed right?
Then just install a vent on the end of the lines.

Sure, if you don't mind the stench of gas fumes.

How would this be any different than the other vent coming from the tank?
I assumed allot of people did away with these in there cars?
