Clogged tank pickup?
I recently got a 84 T/A. So far iv Rebuilt the Carb and put in new plugs.
It runs great off of a gas can, but I could not get it to pull fuel from the tank. I blew some low PSI compressed air back from the engine bay and found the return line to be clear (air was coming from the filler neck) went to do the same on the supply line and got immediate resistance then no resistance. Turns out I split the rubber hose back above the rear end. So I took that section of hose off tried blowing air towards the front and its clear. Then did the same to the tank and its totally plugged up. Whats the deal? Did it eat the strainer? lol
I pretty much have to drop the tank huh?

One way or another, sounds like it's time to drop the tank.

Looks like your dropping the tank. Ive had to drop mine 3-4 times now, its not as daunting as it may seem.

Re: Clogged tank pickup?
We'll, Went ahead and dropped the ol tank today. Me and my buddy got it out in about 4 hours with no real problems. Probably thanks to the 21inch lift on this crazy jack I bought.
We opened it up to find lots of crud. I want to buy a whole new sending unit. O'reilly and Autozone don't seem to be able to order one for me. Any Ideas on where I can get one for a 82-84 carb car?
Thanks

Used is all I know. I'll have one available next month most likely (pulling the carb'd 350 out of Berlinetta #1 to put an LS1 EFI in its place - I'll be using an in-tank pump for which I've already gotten the pick-up).

Re: Clogged tank pickup?
Nobody makes a carbed sending unit anymore, they have been long discontinued. I searched high and low for months with no luck, just used junk.
Bit the bullet and paid around $190 for a new fuel injection sending unit and pick up. Clamped a piece of rubber fuel line in place of where the pump and strainer would be and modified the plug to connect to my wiring harness.
