for the 305 i would recomend a edelbrock intake. performer series i think its what its called. and a 600 electric choke carb. the edelbrock 1406 is a good carb for the fuel economy! as for the distributor... thats all up to you.

Theres alot more to just swapping a carb and intake on to your car. you might want to use the and see the fun others have had and then see if your up to the task.

I am not worried about passing inspection, I know you can do it, the car i am putting it in was orginally carburated, so i am not swapping from TPI to carb, the engine i have now, all the intake and carb would fit but that are beat and looking for something a little better.

Get a weiand action plus or an edelbrock performer intake. Then throw a 600 cfm carb on of your choice holley or barry grant.

You will need an intake manifold for '87-up bolt pattern.

The original carb and distributor is the best possible combo for a performance daily driver.

That would be a better use of your money. An Edelbrock Performer intake is slightly better than the stock one.
