ive been trying to repair a carb'd 2.8 v 6 and for some reason i can get it to start somewhat but itll shut off after about 4-5 seconds of runnig i replaced the fuel filter and still nothing has changed aside from dropping the tank an hooking a line directly to the carb i have no more ideas

Let's start with the basics:

Were there any "events" before this started happening, like something changed, car sat for several months, filled up at that cheap gas station, anything like that?

Is the choke operating?

Do you have all of the vacuum lines connected where they belong?
