Intank fuel pump clarity....

Just to get some clarity here. I've read several threads here and have seen people say "all you gotta do is keep the stock intank pump and put a regulator with a return on it". Then others say you have to drop the tank and do some other things. Others say put a inline pump and forget the intank one. Im confused; also im new here so "Hello to yall".

Fuel supply systems range from mild to wild. Mine's on the wild end. Is there a problem with your's? What are you looking to do?

what are you looking to do, what engine did the car have, and whats going in? i assume you are going from TBI/TPI to carb? if that is the case, then just leave the tank alone and use a return style regulator to drop the pressure for the carb.

Re: Intank fuel pump clarity....

yup goin' from a 305 TPI to 358 sbc with a carb. im glad b/c i was wanting to add on to my exisiting fuel rails and just buy a regualtor. not goin too wild here im just trying to get a lil over 400hp. someone did say you would have to do something to the intank pump to use it for a carb. but i cant remember what & im not even sure you have to do that.

Dont need to drop the tank if the in-tank pump is still functional.

Run a Mallory return style regulator, and, under the hood, run your feed, return, and a line to the carb with a pressure gauge closer to the carburetor, set the regulator at 5-6 psi and thats it.
