i just picked up a 87 z28 with a LG4 and a T5 trans and i'm in the process of tuning her up. i changed changed the oil today, the air filter and retarded the timing . . . car didn't want to fully shut off until we retarded the timing a bit
i've never had a carb car so this stuff is new to me, thankfully i know some people who know carbs like i know my LS1. now i need to get a trans mount (this one is non-existent lol) are the NGK 6630 spark plugs ok to run? and i'm lookin to order a set of taylor 8.0 spark plug wires, are those decnt also?
thanks for the help guys!

Re: tune up
Most folks have the best luck with the standard issue AC/Delco plugs from what I read. I have dometop pistons, and so I have to run the Accel shorties. But I'm no plug expert - everyone has their brands and reasons.
The Taylor wires are great, I like mine alot. HOWEVER - as with any new plug wire, there can be a bad one in the box. So - use a ohm meter and test resistance on them BEFORE installing in the car and before you cut and crimp the ends on them. I had a Taylor wire that had a short in it, but it was close to the end and I just cut it off before I crimped the end on. Just check them first, should have almost 0 resistance to them - saves alot of wondering and worrying later - if car doesn't run right you'll know it's not a wire issue if you test first!

of course on my 1988 IROC i didn't have to cut or crimp so i'm not sure which wires your referring to
but in any case thank you bud! Last edited by King NothingSS; Jul 5, 2010 at 02:31 AM.
