I am thinking of carbing my 87 gta tpi. What am i going to need to do this and what are gonna be the pros and cons of swithching from the tpi system to a carburated.

 

as far as pros and cons i havnt finished mine yet so cant tell ya there but there not too much to it youll of corse need intake carb either a fuel pressure regulator or a fuel sender from a carb car and you could either do an electric pump or mech pump on engine the other little things are either making your tpi throttle cable work or finding a carb throttle cable i think 57 kid is selling one pretty cheap im not sure if hes sold it yet tho and youll also need a throttle cable bracket most people make there own but one can be purchased pretty easily and also your trans is most likely computer controlled so tci sells a override for that ...im sure theres things i forgot but thats the just of it

 

Pros to switching to carb:
- It will handle radical performance parts a little better than TPI.

Cons to switching to carb:
- It isn't legal.
- Driveability and economy suffer over a properly tuned and operating TPI.
- You'll spend more on the parts you need than you'll get selling off your TPI parts (assuming you buy new carb parts).

But, if it's what you want to do, I do have a stock carb throttle cable and manifold-mounted bracket available. I let the TV cable go with the transmission.
