Rochester Electric Choke Question

Rochester Electric Choke Question
I am building up my truck and have not started the engine yet. I installed a Rochester 4bbl Quadrajet. Someone modified the hot air choke with an electric one instead. I wanted to verify that it worked so I plugged 12v into it. After about 5 minutes (occasionally opening the throttle) nothing happened.
I put a multi-meter on the power tang then to a good ground on the engine and read infinite resistance. I should have grounded it to the carb body to be certain, however. I'll try that next.
Anyway, what should I be seeing for resistance across the heater coil?
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Rochester Electric Choke Question
I don't remember what a typical value is, but it's a lot less than infinite.
