Re: how do you do this the right way

You need carb throttle studs - most any auto parts store will have them. Different shaped studs for different cables sometimes. Edelbrock & Holley both make them, as well as Mr. Gasket and others.

Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: how do you do this the right way

Should be 2 studs up near the top edge of the lever. One where the throtle cable is tied, and one down a little lower and rearward from the first, which might be where you have the cruise cable tied. Hard to tell.

The throttle cable stud is short, holds the cable end maybe ½" from the lever. The cruise one is MUCH longer; like, about 1¼" tall or so.

Yes the TV cable goes where you have circled. Looks like there's something stuck on it but it's hard to tell for sure in the crappy cell phone pic. Should look just like the head of a nail.

The return springs are in the right place. Although, there should be only one of the ones in the pic, and then a second one that's MUCH bigger around, like about 1" dia. They shouldn't be the same and all intertwined like that.

Re: how do you do this the right way

Is there a way I can remove these two pieces off this one and put it on the other one?

Re: how do you do this the right way

Do the cables fit those?
Do they have nuts on the backside to remove?
Do they fit on the other carb?

yes

just one of them (the one that sticks out a lot)
Do they fit on the other carb?
Not sure, didn't you say earlier that an auto store carried these things? I looked on oreilys but could only find one for the transmission stud which I think I can remove on my old one anyway.

Re: how do you do this the right way

If you have a Pep Boys around, try them - they usually carry alot of these kinda things under the Edelbrock and Holley names - but for your application I wouldn't think brand should matter. Oh, and go in the store - not even sure how to find online. Easy to find in Summit's online catalog - might look there, get a part number, and try that number on the AutoZone or Advance websites (just the number part, forget Summit's letters - ie EDL-1111, just use the "1111") - sometimes I can locate stuff this way.
