How can i convert my crossfire injection to quadrajet carb

I have a lu5 305 crossfire, refreshed the motor but now i dont want to use the crossfire anymore. I have a quadrajet intake and carb from a 82 camaro. how hard is it to do this. The carb has a few sensors on it, and it would be nice to get rid of my computer and sensors for simplicity.

Can i just leave the sensors not plugged to anything, and run some fuel to the carb and go. Thanks, Joshua

google it theyd be able to tell you how to fix it but yes you can make it manually switch or leave it off, it looks the torq converter up and helps you get a lil better gas millage

You need the computer.

If you're interested in a complete '82 factory computer carb harness (with the sensors that go with it) and ECM, let me know. Your current crossfire distributor should work with a computer carb set-up.

There wasn't a "last year". There were non-CC q-jets on trucks through at least '86.

I believe 2nd gens got CC carbs in at least California in the later years.

Re: How can i convert my crossfire injection to quadrajet carb

How thedn can you tell? I have an 85 qjet on my car. Not original to car. My car was a TPI car. I was told it was a ccc Qjet, but maybe it is not. If it is, nothing is hooked to it.

Front left as in near the throttle linkage? No connections on the top of the carb?

Re: How can i convert my crossfire injection to quadrajet carb

That sounds like an M4MED, which isn't computer controlled. Can you post a picture of the whole carb from the front, with no air cleaner on it?

Re: How can i convert my crossfire injection to quadrajet carb

This is an E4ME:

The blue connection at the top is for the MSC, and the white plastic protrusion out the front at the bottom right in the image is the TPS connector. If your connector at the top is grey it's for the double-capacity accelerator pump, and along with a missing TPS connector, that would make your carb an M4MED.

Re: How can i convert my crossfire injection to quadrajet carb

Yeah I don't have that white piece and on mine the piece that is blue is grey with nothing plugged into it. So now then is my carb right for my motor. I have a 68 327. I can either attempt to rebuild what I have or I saw on criaglist a guy selling a Holly 4776 and a Wieand Duel Plane manifold for 150. Carb was rebuilt in July. I currently have an Edelbrock Performer intake on my car. I may be able to get just carb for under 100. But I don't know what is best for me. I hear hollys are finicky and I am ignorant when it comes to carbs. What would your advice be?

Re: How can i convert my crossfire injection to quadrajet carb

You already have the Quadrajet, cheapest option is to keep it and rebuild it.

Thank you. And please excuse my stupidity but is this TPS thing supposed to be plugged in?

Re: How can i convert my crossfire injection to quadrajet carb

Not if you don't have it. The TPS is the throttle position sensor for the computer.

Re: How can i convert my crossfire injection to quadrajet carb

If you don't have the throttle position sensor, you can just not connect it to anything and it will be fine. You will need power for the electric choke. Done a lot of these and they are just fine without anything connected electrically except choke.
You MUST also replace your distributor. The one you have is controlled by the computer and you are about to do away with all the inputs to make it work. Get a distributor with vacuum advance and NO 4Wire connector!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Failure to do the dist. swap or the choke power will give terrible performance and mileage!!!

wow thanks evryone for chiming in, i ended up buying a edelbrokck performer intake for 10 bucks, which i then traded to a buddy for a weiand dual plane intake,

i can either use the quadrajet cuz mine is exactly the same as the one pictured above or ill just buy a edelbrok 1405 or 1406, i have to find a good cheap dizzy as well.

Yall were alotta help, i may just use the quadrajet and save the cash for the dizzy, i want to fire this thing up so bad.
