Edelbrock throttle/cruise brackets?

I have a Edelbrock 18134 carb I'm installing on my car. I'm wondering if theres a carb base mounted bracket that will hold both the throttle and cruise control cables??
Since I have a small blower on the engine, anything manifold mounted won't work. Been looking, but all I seem to find are manifold brackets... Anyone know if there is such a bracket??

Re: Edelbrock throttle/cruise brackets?

Uh, yeah - something like those except I need one that mounts to the carb base and will actually work. None that you posted on the entire Summit page qualifies. The closest one is this:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1414/?rtype=10

But - notice how thin and cheap it is? It has to be supported by the intake or else it would fold itself up (see pic)...and obviously that one will have no support on a blower car.

All the ones that say there are no provisions for a trans cable I know won't work. I'm was already resourceful enough to scan over Jeg's and Summit, and maybe I missed it, but I didn't see one. If I just wanted to hook up a throttle alone - then yes, there's gadzillions of them.

Back to the topic....is there any brackets that are like this available anyplace that will accept BOTH a throttle cable and cruise control bracket?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-210240R/
What's everyone else using to run a throttle AND cruise control on thier Edelbrock carbs??

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: Using the search function on the Summit site, this is the only one it comes up with: Spectre Performance 24283 - I got one of those things in the past - but for a Holley, and they're flimsy at best, but I guess I'll get it as a last resort if no one knows of anything better. I'd love to use the plate type that comes with two base gaskets, but I can't raise my carb AT ALL due to clearance issues with the hood....still looking...

Re: Edelbrock throttle/cruise brackets?

OK - it seems like there's a better selection at jeg's as far as throttle/cruise cable brackets are concerned....but I'm seriously lost as to how I'm supposed to hook both these cables up properly on the Edelbrock throttle lever.

Again, I can't use any type of manifold type bracket, so it pretty much has to bolt up to the carb base. Car has the original Q-Jet cables, and never had a trans kickdown cable since it's always been a 5 speed - which it'll remain.

I found this bracket here:
http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...oductId=752613
along with an adapter to hook up the cruise cable here:
http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...oductId=752613

-..the "kickdown" bracket piece seems like it would hold my cruise cable, I assume it bolts on the bottom side of the bracket correct? But how then, would my cruise cable hook up to the throttle lever on the Edelbrock?? It needs to pull rearward when the cruise control is on....what the heck am I missing??

Re: Edelbrock throttle/cruise brackets?

Well, I guess the question is kinda unique since there's really not many here familiar with evry possible linkage setup on carbs or roots blowers for that matter. I'll just get both the adapter and bracket and see whether they'll work together or not. Thanks for reading anyway.

Re: Edelbrock throttle/cruise brackets?

When @ the Summit site yesterday, I typed in the word
Throttle brackets
in the Keyword // Part # box
& got alot of things come up, however, I don't recall if or how many had cruise provision, but it may be worth an hour of your time to see if there's
something you can use. More parts came up on line than in the catalog.
We don't have cruise so I wasn't looking for something like that.

I wish I had only spent an hour looking at all different types of brackets. Takes longer than that. Again, there are a lot of choices if I only wanted to run the throttle cable alone.

After looking more closely, even the flimsy Spectre Performance 24283 bracket I mentioned in the quote still doesn't hold two cables (throttle & cruise) side by side somewhat like it came from the factory.

The only answer seems to be an all-out custom setup. Maybe I'll troll some boards that deal with GM engine roots blower setups to see what others are running.

Check with these guys at Monster Transmission & Performance, I know they put out this 1 for the 700R4 if thats what you're running, they might be able to help you out a little bit.

Re: Edelbrock throttle/cruise brackets?

I can't believe no one sells anything like this....

I have a '83 Z28 with the original snap-in (square) throttle cable and snap-in (square) cruise control cable. I need a carb mounted type bracket that will hold both of these cables.

I have a manual 5 speed trans., so I DO NOT need a "kickdown" bracket.

I can find carb mounted brackets all day long that support the snap-in throttle cable....but none that will also support the cruise cable. This is ridicoulous. NE1 that has a 82-84 Z28 or 'Bird with a V8 and T-5 trans knows what I'm referring to.

BOTH of these cables MUST pull on the upper portion of the throttle lever on the carb. to function properly.

I've had a CSR bracket on my Holley and I just left my cruise control cable lying on the intake doing nothing. The same bracket (CSR) doesn't fit my Thunder AVS...

If ANYONE knows of ANY bracket that will support both a cruise AND throttle cable and is CARB BASE mounted, PLEASE chime in!!

Bowtie Overdrives.

You have to order the throttle and cruise bracket separately.

Spendy, but it was the ONLY kit that worked correctly on my 700r4, and looked good (before I swapped it out).

Again, I don't have an automatic transmission. I have a T-5 with cruise control. Here's a couple of pics of how I currently have the cables set up on a Demon carb. Of course this won't work with the Edelbrock carb I'm going to install. I'm looking for a decent bracket that will support these two cables using an Edelbrock carb. And with a blower, it HAS to be mounted on the carb itself.

I'm aware you have a t5. So do I. You don't have to be running an auto or Eddie to use their brackets.

Ahhh...OK!! I didn't click around the whole site you posted before. I wrongfully assumed you were pointing me to a TV bracket....till I clicked around. I do like the double cable bracket they have (#Part #:TVEZBRKTDSC), but it also says: "This bracket was designed to work with our Patented TV Made EZ system only". So does thier cable replace my cruise cable, or is it just used for Auto trans TV??? Trying to understand how that kit works...I'd rather just keep using the stock cables already on there if I can.

...do you recall how thick the plate was that goes under the carb when you used two gaskets? I have NO room to raise the carb/air cleaner set up I'm running....it's SO close right now with just a carb gasket that the wing nut on the air cleaner has actually put a small dent in the inner panel under the cowl. And it's a 4" cowl at that.

I "might be able to use something other than a wing nut on my air cleaner to possibly squeeze another 1/8" or so of clearance...if the plate is thin enough. Hard to tell by the pic.

Thanks for the link!

I'll try and get a better shot tomorrow-this is when I had an auto.

Re: Edelbrock throttle/cruise brackets?

Here you go homie- my dial caliper said it was .09 thick- shy of 1/8".

Here's the pictures to give you an idea- on my stock flat hood and L69 dual snorkel setup, the aircleaner rod just kisses the hood. I could shave 1/4" or so off the stud and still have plenty of room for the nut- just not too high (unintended pun) on the to do list.

Re: Edelbrock throttle/cruise brackets?

HawkZ28 -

Thanks for the pics! Gives me an idea of whether that bracket might work or not. As you can see by the pics I posted, I can't use the over/under cable style brackets because both cables need to PULL back on the carb throttle arm in order to work. Looks like If I got the base plate with the double square holed cable holder it might just work....but it doesn't look like they list just the base plate alone on the site - just kits with baseplate/special TV cable and compensator.

I'll give them a call and see how much they know and if they sell parts separate.
