Carb setup questions
hey guys a few questions, in a 93 trans am, the computer is setup for a stock 5.7 lt1 engine which is fuel injected(not with the car). now the car doesnt have the engine with it so im putting a carbed 383 in it. My question is if i remove the wiring and stuff on the passanger side (like ive bin told) and just use the carb, how would it be able to be inspected in pa? (emissions laws and whatnot). i know they plug into the thing under the drivers side to get readings but if i remove all that wiring on the pass side would it affect being able to be inspected?

You do realize that to carb a motor in a 4th gen car you have to do some cowl and firewall cutting right? The 4th gen cars the motor sits too far under the cowl, and you can't fit a carbed motor into a 4th gen body with some modding of the firewall and the cowl in order for the carb to fit.

Re: Carb setup questions
In PA (at least around here), it is a visual inspection only. They will be looking for all of the original smog equipment...when they see a carb, you will fail. Unless, of course, you can prove that the carb conversion is smog legal (CARB exempt parts work well). In the end, I don't see this thing passing...unless you have a good friend that is an inspector.
Get an LT1 manifold, computer and wiring harness if needed. The LT1 manifolds work well and you can make good power with them.
