Edelbrock 600 cfm choke problem
During the cooler weather my 600 cfm Performer's choke will stick on me. I have to rev it up around 3000 rpm to get it to kick out but as soon as I start driving it again the choke sticks again!!!
Now that we are into spring and warmers temps, the problem goes away. But as soon as the outside temps get down around 40F the choke will start playing its stupid games on me again. I've had this carb for about 6 years now and the problem just won't go away. Summer driving is perfect but when fall and winter come along, the choke sticks again.
Does anyone know the answer to this problem? Some pictures of how to fix it would be very much welcome, as I will need to get the neighbourhood kid mechanic to do the repair.
Thanks all!
PS It is the standard Edelbrock electric choke.

Re: Edelbrock 600 cfm choke problem
Also, the choke does not come back on at as fast an rpm as when it first starts. It will start at 2000 rpm and after a minute I kick it down and it sits at 1500 rpm. Finally after it has warmed up to its normal driving temp it will idle around 1000 to 1300 rpm. But that is a very large annoyance to me, having to step on the brakes so hard to come to a stop.

Is the choke plate closing again when the idle speed comes back up? How have you got the tension set up?

What I wouldn't give for an Edelbrock expert like you Chris to be living here in Calgary!
Does anyone know of a really good Edelbrock carb man here in Calgary?
