The solenoid you are describing is for you air conditioning, or when you have your defroster on. It is there so your engine doesn't stall when your air conditioning compressor is on. My solenoid wanted to stay in high idle mode even when the compressor was off e.g. when on heat or vent. I simply disconnected the wire to it. I do not use air anyway.Originally Posted by FJA1791

I am ok with unhooking my solenoid, but I don't know if it is the solenoid its self, or is it getting constant power.Originally Posted by anthony714

dont unhookit, fix it. i got a thumper of a motor and even with my motor it doesnt like the ac on. you an feel it at idle. needs the kicker. mine has constant power, not the solenoid. use a simple test light to check yours or make one. a12v light bulb and 2 pieces of wire. mine is dead until i hit the ac,it powers the solenoid like it should but after you turn the ac off the power remains..thats the bugger for me..any help anyone?

I did'nt have a problem until I removed the electronic Q jet & distributor....not sure if thats why....I do not believe the computer effects the fast idle solenoid. It is a must with a car with A/C. Any help with this would be appreciated.

There is a circuit for the computer to activate the fast idle solenoid.
