Electric fuel pump with mech block pump

Transmission: m29 T56
Axle/Gears: 3.27 9 bolt Borg Warner.
Electric fuel pump with mech block pump

Im getting a gas tank from a buddy that has elect pump in the tank, do i have to switch it out to run my mechanical pump on the block or can i just leave the electric pump not powered, for future fuel purposes?
