Re: 91 suburban 5.7 swaping to carb
well im realy putting it in a 78 Monte Carlo but its a center bolt valve cover 350 like my 88 Camaro. and i know the 2 center bolts on eather side on the manifold are drilled different then the older 350's. just wanted a liittle feedback before i mess up a manifold trying to make the holes bigger there off by less then a centimeter

There are basically 3 types of heads. Old pre center bolt heads you know the type standard. Then there are the TPI swirlport heads and then real vortec heads. I think true vortec heads only came in 96 and later but sometimes the pre vortec TBI heads are called vortec. Both have center bolt covers. The TBI heads and manifold are very close and with some drilling you can make a regular manifold fit. Or you can just buy the correct one.
Either way the Edelbrock or equiv 7116 manifold will work for true vortec heads.
For the 91 surburban TBI heads here is a list from summit racing

The image blow has a standard SBC square port gasket over a true vortec intake port the heads are also drilled for both types of manifolds. This may help you.

You need an '87-up intake, NOT Vortec. As stated, the Vortec heads started in 1996.
Take your pick:

Or, you can elongate the center two mount bolts on each side so they line up with the bolt holes in the heads. If you're only a centimeter off, then you may want to just go ahead and do that with the intake you have.
