Edelbrock Idle Question

Hello All,
I have heard many answers on this question, and I would like to get a
correct one.I have a 83 Z-28 with a 305 engine.In park,and in gear,what
should my idle speed be at.I hear in park, around 1000 RPM,and in gear
I hear 500.Either my carb has issues,or the idle speeds are wrong,I cant
get my engine to perform at 500 RPM in gear. The engine will die out.

Re: Edelbrock Idle Question

The correct speed is whatever you can get it to idle at happily. A stock cammed car might like 500, a car with a bigger cam might need 750, a race car might need 1500 or more.
