My car was originally a tpi 305 and now it has a carbed 327 and i was wanting to put new fuel lines on it. I was wondering if the fuel lines on the factory carbed cars ran up the right side of the car or if not there where they ran. I've never seen a good enough picture to tell where the lines would have ran. My car vapor locks and I hope putting this new line and an electric pump will help solve the problem.

 

The factory V8 fuel lines crossed from driver to passenger side over the transmission. Pretty poor way to route them, in my opinion.

Where are you putting the electric pump?

Is the in-tank TPI electric pump operating? If not, has it been removed?

An in-tank pump cannot "vapor lock". If you aren't using the in-tank pump, getting it operating is the best way to kill "vapor lock".

 

Sure about lines going like that? On my car they all are on driver side which sucks because not with a mechical pump my lines go over water pump and look like poo

 

they are right about the lines crossing over the tranny to the passanger side. I had two carbed camaro (85 and 87) and both we like that by my 87 tpi i have now are all on the driver side.

 

Yup, positive; that's how they were run in the carbed cars. From GM, they come up the driver's side of the "frame" from the tank, cross over the trans tunnel right under the windshield cowl, exit the tunnel right below the evap housing, then sit on top of the pass side "frame" in the engine room, so they can go to the mech fuel pump.

 

I have a carburated car pick up in the tank so it doesn't have an electric pump in the tank. I was planning on putting my new pump where the old fuel filter was. I'm putting new lines the whole lenght of the car, I'm getting rid of all of the old fuel lines. My line before ran infront of the motor too and it just looked like someone didn't put much effort in it when they put it together.
