Looks like the idle stop solenoid wire. Doesn't look like your carb has it.

 

no idea man, kinda why i posted, why would i have the wire without it though? this cars original with 30,xxx miles and the engine, while a little dirty and has a few probs is all original too

nope, doesn't have one, car runs good without it i think i had the idle set way too high today though, kicked it back down and she was all back to normal, last time i let my dad tell me my idle needs adjusted

 

If your car originally came with A/C you should have that solenoid mounted on the front/driver's side of the carb. It opens the throttle slightly to raise the idle speed when the A/C is on. Just 2 screws to remove it, so it's entirely possible it got removed by a previous owner or the carb was replaced with a rebuilt unit at some point in the car's life (rebuild carbs don't come with that solenoid- you're supposed to carry it over from the old carb before you install it).

 

could be, idk it doesn't seem to be hurting anything by not being hooked up, my ac controls are always on and there constantly hissing, but thats cuz i havent fixed the vaccum lines behind it yet
