Carb Problem??? OR NOT

I have a 85 z28 with the LG4 in it. I'm only 18 and I just got the car last September and it is my first experience with a carbed motor. The person before me half-a**ed everything when they tried to fix it. He said they rebuilt the motor and couldnt get it running right. That they went through 6 different carbs but when I bought it, it was the timing that was way off and i had the carburetor tuned, which is a edelbrock.

But the point when I am in low throttle sometimes maybe mid it feels like the car is not getting any gas and is cutting back...I highly doubt its the tranny, i just had it fully rebuilt.

Is it a bad carb? or something else? I have also read somewhere that it has something to do with it being a different carb then than factory quadrajet with the distributor....

If the distributor is not computer controlled and the carb is, you will have problems. The PO of my car swapped out the dist with and HEI and then he ran in to carburetor issues. I have a non-computer edelbrock q-jet I'm going to rebuild for my car...hope to have that done in a couple days.

How would I be able to tell if either one of them is computer controlled?

Re: Carb Problem??? OR NOT

the carb will have electrical connections on it(more than one). if it doesnt its not computer controlled. the dizzy will be wither a small cap with 9 plug wires on it (computer controlled) or a large cap with the coil mounted on top and only 8 plug wires (non computer controlled)

Re: Carb Problem??? OR NOT

Im planning on building a motor for the car soon... Would it be best to keep everything computer controlled or non-computer controlled?

Re: Carb Problem??? OR NOT

depends on which you you wanna tune it. to be street legal youll need everything computer controlled. you can be "street legal" on non computer controlled equipment since i doubt you have to pass strict emissions in NC
