Since doing the 305 to 355 swap recently, I have decided to make the switch to a carb from TBI. I found a good deal in a 625 cfm 4-barrell Demon that has been used very little, if any at all. I've not really been around any Demon stuff, but from what I hear they are good carbs. I was just wondering what everyone on here thought of these carbs.

They were a very good design, kind of like taking the Holley design and working out some of the bugs that it's been stuck with for the last 50 years. However they suffered from extremely poor qualty control.
Meaning, if you happen to get a problem-free one, they're GREAT; but if the one you happen to have just happens to have a problem, then .... not so much.
Barry Grant is out of business now. A casualty of the credit cruch I guess, just a guess based on the way it appeared to happen from the outside. Which they would have probably weathered if Summit hadn't dropped them, probably due to excessive returns due to excessive quality control problems. It all comes back to execution, doesn't it? The best design in the world is still a failure if you can't translate it into product THAT WORKS RIGHT.
Meaning, if the carb runs good as-is, great; but if you need parts, .... not so much.
Risk vs reward.
If you get it cheeeeeeeeeep enough, and can see it run before you buy it, the risk is MUCH less. If not, ..... don't pay much for it, and prepare to watch ebay and whatever else to find cores to scab parts off of.

The one I found is pretty much brand new, it was only on the car for about 300 miles or so. The guy that has it was pretty knowledgeable about it, and spoke pretty highly of it, so I think I'm going to try it, and if it doesn't suit me, I'll try something different.

quick fuel.
only brand you need to buy for adjustability.
Demons have issues in their castings and sometimes have metal shavings left in the carb as a bonus
Then again the Barry grant fuel pumps blew up(I had two burn out on me) along with 4 carbs that I personally had to clean shavings out of to get them to run right. Now they're out of business, in fact they were returned so often that summit stopped carrying them since 2 out of 10 were returned.

Does quickfuel take your motor specs and "custom" calibrate the carb?Originally Posted by xpndbl3

No that would only be pro systems or similar companies. But quick fuel does have a tech line if you need help, although the best option is to buy a book about tuning holley carbs and learn it yourself.

I know, or rather I THINK, Jupider has a demon carb on his Gen I 383 and he really likes it.

Yeah I think I'm goin' to like my 625 Road Demon. My intake and stuff came in today, so hopefully I'll get to work on it later this week.

I ran 2 1250's on a blown 496... I never had one bit of fuss out of them... Just keep it adjusted correctly and it should last a good while!

Yeah I do believe I'm goin' to like mine. I got pretty much all of my parts in last week, so maybe if the weather and work cooperate I'll get to work on it soon.
