If you want to use an external coil, you'll need to get a small cap hei dizzy, one without the coil in the cap.

There is a link in the "welcome to the carburetor forum" sticky that gives the basics of the EFI to carb conversion.

The rule of thumb is, "You get what you pay for." I would add, "...or less." The eBay billet distributors are probably fine, but you for sure won't get the support you would getting a distributor from MSD, for instance.

Yes, you can use an external coil, small cap distributor, and MSD box. In fact, you could use an external coil, large cap distributor, and MSD box if you chose. Or a large cap integral coil distributor and an MSD box.
