I have an '87 camaro I bought when I was in high school. I enlisted in the military and did 4 years but right before I left I swapped the original factory 305 out with a 350. I had a little street race with it just before boot camp on the interstate and the gas pedal got stuck down and the car wouldn't stop.
I threw it in neutral, cut the car off and rolled down the exit. 4 years later I separate and start restoring the car. It's been working pretty well considering it's been sitting, but just last week I went to cut the car and pumped the gas to help it boot up and the gas pedal stayed on the floor. It stayed down until I turned the car off. Without putting the key in, I pressed the gas pedal down and it stuck for about 4 seconds before it literally "popped" back up.
Looked under the hood and maybe it seems to be something on the carburetor. Maybe not. I'm not really a car person. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Gas pedal stuck help
The return spring for the throttle linkage on the car should have two springs, one inside the other. Check that and replace if it doesn't look right. Then spray everything down with carb cleaner and check for smooth operation. Disconnect the cable and make sure it operates smoothly and there is nothing hanging up the gas pedal.

Another possible issue is worn throttle bushings. Check the play on your primary throttle shaft back and forth, holding the throttle open (if closed, the butterflys will keep it tight). Worn throttle bushings can allow the cause the throttle to stick.

Re: Gas pedal stuck help
I'm pretty sure I understood what you were saying. However, I don't really wanna risk taking anything apart out of fear that I'd mess up things even worse. With that said, though, does the picture help anything? Is there supposed to be this much give beyond the little bolt holding it in place or is it supposed to rest firmly against it?

For a little more clarity, here's a video to study if anyone has an opinion.

I would guess it's the carburetor base gasket interfering with the throttle blades.

Might be something with the linkages. It's pretty clear from your video that the secondaries are closed before the primaries hang up, so the secondaries can probably be eliminated.
