Need help with quadrajet vaccume!
Hey fellas I just rebuilt the motor on my 83 H.O.
I have everything put back together but I'm having trouble
getting it to run right.
I know for sure I have the vaccume correct on the front of the carb.
But the two ports on the rear of the carb. I have no idea where they go.
Also the hose that comes out of the intake inbetween the carb. and the distributer.
Thanks for any help!
I can post pics if needed

ok you have a 305, everyone thinks they have a h.o., typically there wasnt a ho, but that doesnt matter anyway. you need to tell us what kind of carb it is
you need to describe what symptoms your engine is showing, how does it drive. Pull the spark plugs out and compare them to a plug chart to see what going on in your combustion chamber.
what model number is the carb, and what size, probably just the wrong spring size in the vacum diaphram

I almost %100 sure I have the H.O.
I have the 416 heads and block matches.
Also has it marked inside and on air cleaner, with dual breathers.
Anyway, I dnt think carb # matters. All 4 barrel quadrajets in early 80s are similar.
Only two vaccume ports exiting the firewall side of the carb. Where do they go?
And only one hose coming directly out of the intake inbetween the dist. and carb.

Hose coming out of intake = goes to the vacuum reservoir, and then on to the HVAC control head
Ports on rear of carb = one to the MAP sensor and one to the air cleaner Thermac

Sofakingdom, you mentioned one goes to MAP and one goes to thermic on air cleaner.
The only hose going to my air cleaner is on the front of my carb.
Does a plug belong here? Or are you incorrect?
I'm not trying to be rude just wondering what goes to those ports!

On the back of the carb, I know of two vacuum ports, and one "fresh air" port.
The large fitting on the middle of the back base of the carb goes to the brake vacuum booster.
The small fitting on the passenger corner of the back base goes to the MAP (vacuum) sensor. It should be a small, hard, black plastic line that goes into the wiring harness, then comes out in the back driver side corner of the firewall.
The fitting on the top of the carb was a fresh air vent for the EGR solenoid on the early 3rd gens. Not sure when it changed - it was there for the '82, not there for the '86.

Thanks man this helped out big time. Everything went on and my vaccume is correct now. Motor has some power now! But I am still getting a bog..
It's kinda hard to explain I can floor it in first, second, sometimes third, sometimes forth, rarely fifth. When it starts to bog I can lift up on the throttle and keep it at a steady pace but as soon as I throttle it bogs. The bog is a go,bog,go,bog,go,bog,go. Today at work I wired my choke flap up and it ran better, but still fell on its face but at much higher rpms at WOT.
