C/H fuse blown, choke relay bad?

My car has lately been hard to start when engine is warm, but cold it fires up just fine. The "choke" light was on and there was a buzzing sound from under the dash when the key was in the on position. When you can get it to start with a warm engine it runs like crap, (stumbling, feeling about to stall, car shakes) and will stall if you don't keep it at over 1000 rpm for more than about 10 or 15 seconds before you drive off. Looked at the fuses today and found the choke heater fuse was blown. Popped a new one in the choke light and buzzing stopped. Haven't driven it yet but could the heater relay be bad? Or maybe i'll just get lucky with a new fuse.

could the heater relay be bad?
Probably not.

More likely, the wire to the choke was left unplugged from off of the choke and allowed to touch ground, at some time or other.

See my signature for some advice about logic.

Agreed with Sofa- don't invent problems that haven't been proven to exist yet. If it keeps blowing fuses then yes, you need to dig deeper. But not yet. Patience and observation cost nothing, take no effort and usually yield better results than immediately shooting at anything that moves.

Sure, absolutely. The choke is only there to help out on a cold engine. On a warmed up engine it needs to be fully open or it will run rich- possibly very rich.
