Fuel pump shutting off?

Transmission: 700r
Axle/Gears: 3.73
Fuel pump shutting off?
Ok I have carbed 350 with a edelbrock performer and with a external electric fuel pump ran by a toggle switch and the pumps gas but once the car is running it stops pumping? Im confused what would cause this?? I bought the car about a month ago and it ran fine until yesterday.. Any ideas?

What year, make and model is your car?
Has the pump stopped running altogether or only when the car turns on? Do you have a regulator? What kind of pump is it? Is the return line still hooked up?
