Holley inline fuel pumps?? Red or Blue??
I have a question hopefully you guys can help me here. I have my 383 setup with carb it runs off 7psi constally. I currently have a winban return style reg with a walbro which isnt working good at all. I want to switch to a inline but dont know.which one. Holley says this the red pump has a preset of 7psi which is great so i dont need a reg but then says it maintains a 5psi line pressure. Blue is preset for 14psi and holds a line pressure of 9psi. My question.is.the line pressure when running.or off. How does the line pressure work to the actual Psi it gives out. Thanks

With the pump hooked up, it has to pull fuel upand out of the tank through the lines, this means the pump is running dry for 4-5 seconds which will absolutely kill the life of your pump.
To use one properly, you'llneed to install a gravity sump on the bottom of your tank that the fuel runs down to the pump without any help.
I've got a 255lph in-tank pump from TRE Performance (The racers edge) that I retrofitted into my 84 which originally had a mechanical pump. I tried the holley pumps first but they all died so I blew almost $500 on fuel pumps before going with the intank that's lasted almost two years now with no issues. Using a Mallory 4309 return style regulator set to 5-6psi and I have zero issues with fuel flow.
