Best starting mods for a LG4?
I am thinking of doing a UDP with Amp Pulley, Electric Water Pump, Hooker 2055s & Hooker Catback to start with. Any other sugestions to help wake up a stock LG4?

I'll be here, hopefully. Got to spend a week in Weisbaden (sp?) and Hohenfels, but that was in 97 on the way to Bosnia. Hope you're relaxing at a nice air base.

Nice I am stationed in Kaiserslautern, Landstuhl-Ramstein Area. I work at the busiest Passenger terminal on the DOD so no relaxing for me lol. Plus my 5 airmen but thats life. I am deployed right now and the wife is buying the IROC to be her daily driver. I can't wait to do some boltons to wake the car up.

That link is a good starting place. I've seen articles about making the stock air cleaner into a dual snorkel air cleaner (L69 style) in magazines like Hot Rod or Super Chevy. That would be one of the first things I would do.
Here are some things I did for my LG4
Removed
ECM
Added:
Edelbrock RPM Air Gap manifold
Holley 570 Street Avenger carb
Mallory Unilite distributor
Mallory ignition coil
MSD 6AL ignition box
MSD spark plug wires
Crane Cam - .454/.480 lift, 216/228@0.050 duration - P/N114142
Crane Cam roller rockers
Cloyes double roller timing chain
Crane Cam cam bolt retainer
SLP Tri-Y headers (came off another car I had bought, would not have bought new)
SLP cat back exhaust
TPI dual fan setup.
160* thermostat
I need a good stall converter and some gears but I still ran 14.7s in the quarter mile with a terrible 2.2 second 60' time

There's nothing wrong with the E4ME, computer, or distributor (although aftermarket module and coil will improve the distributor). There are a lot more things to take care of before you even consider removing them.

I would classify those as things you did against your LG4.

The cam was something I had for a year that was intended for a TPI motor. $99
The RPM Air-Gap I got for $25 used and still looked brand new
The timing chain I got for free
The TPI fan set up came off another car that I parted out, kept the 350 motor and still made money on it.
The roller rockers I got were ones someone else bought and never used and sold cheap
So you see it was just a matter of having parts from other projects that just came together.
For me the car is mostly for show and I just didn't want to mess with the ECM and have all that wiring, smog pump and EGR stuff in there. I've machined and built a couple of SBC motors that have run 10.8s, this is just my play car.

Re: Best starting mods for a LG4?
1) Open up the air intake (Duel snorkle / K&N ).
2) Open up the exhaust (headers/Cat back) for outgoing air.
3) Adding quicker gears (or quicker geared rear end) is the best 'bang-for-the-buck' upgrade.
4) Module, Coil, plugs, wires.
5) Electric fan
Basically you want the motor to 'breath' as much air as possible in & out while throwing as much spark as possible into the cylinders. The electric fan will shed a couple pounds over a clutch type fan and will also slightly reduce the load on the engine (even if it is only a little !) The quicker gears are self explanitory !!
P.S. I wouldn't bother with an electric water pump myself,..... Keep it simple & buy an Aluminum pump if you wish to 'upgrade' it.

Re: Best starting mods for a LG4?
Below are the mods for my LG4:
Pulled the stock air cleaner and added the dual snorkel L69 assembly with a K&N.
Replaced the stock exhaust and cat with a 3" cat and 3" pipe running out through a Flowmaster 80.
Installed Mallory High Output coil.
Installed Edelbrock Performer intake.
The car ran noticeably better, sounded great and had good throttle response. I don't have performance numbers, but the butt dyno says it made a big difference.
