Carb issues with an 87 formula? Insight please.

I'm looking at buying an 87 formula firebird, I've heard it run and everything, it's a little rough, and it has a few issues idling, I'm thinking it's the carb, having sat for nearly 2 years up until recently. I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a rebuild kit for the Rochester carb? Haven't checked the vin closely yet, I'm told it's a 305. What can you guys tell me about this carb, things to look for avoid ect.
Thanks.

Did they still offer the carb motor in 87? I forget. Thought everything was TBI or TPI by then.

Anyway, you can buy a rebuild kit from any good auto parts store. It's basically just a gasket set and inlet valve, though. If you have something wrong with one of the electronic parts in the carb (mixture control solenoid, TPS, electric choke) those are all purchased separately. As is a new float.

87 was the last year for the LG4 and incorporated centerbolt VCs, 1pc RMS, KS, roller cam, electric fan and ECM command of the EVAP system.

If you purchase this formula, post some pics then replace all of the ignition components: plugs, wires, cap and rotor. If the inside of the dist is cracked or fragmented get a new one. This will cure most carburetor issues.

If you have to dig into the carb and associated sensors, we can provide some help.

Thanks, I appritiate it. I'm like 90% sure I'm getting it. I'll post some pics as soon as I do. Gonna pull the carb and rebuild it and do all the ignition.

I got it :-) my friend it's helping rebuild the carb, and I'm getting a new ignition system. Pictures will come soon.
