305 n20 carb questions

hey guys i have been working on my 305 car now for a little bit, and i came across i good deal for what i wanted to do, so here is what i got. A malibu wagon with a .040 over 305, claimed to be forged piston's, un know mild cam, longtube's, eldlebrock performer intake, and 600cfm carb, with which appear to be some 416 casting heads. also comes with a th350 trans that works great!!! all of this in a rusted out BU wagon scored for 500 buck's now for my carb question's. my plan is to run a 150 shot on this little 313 or what ever it is, and see what i can get out of her, anyway is the 600cfm going to be enough to fuel the motor, i know its not a big motor but with running an eventual 150 shot and some ported 416's and more than likely a bigger cam, is the intake and carb going to be up for it??? i mean the wagon scats for being a one legged burn out machine, i cant wait to get it into my gutted camaro!!!! should be alot of fun!! thanks guys!!

well are you running a wet shot? if so it supplies the fuel to your engine not your carb when you hit the button.

Re: 305 n20 carb questions

you lost me hear.... my understanding is a dry system wouldnt really be practical for a carb setup anyway because a dry system dosnt increase the fuel, it just shoots the nitrous, so in order to run a dry system you would have to lean out the carb to the point beyond rich. and it would be dangerous to run in such a way, a wet kit add more fuel and add the nitrous at the same time, dry shots do NOT up the fuel. With a wet kit that is adding more fuel and nitrous, is y 600cfm going to be able to add the required fuel to run a 100-150 shot safely, im looking at 2 kits

the NOS SNIPER which is 100-175 shot
and its says holley flange??? and the other is a quadra-jet flange which is the eldlebrock fit under or any of those

or the eldlebrock performer nitrous kit for a spread bore is that what the performer is considered?? any help would be great sorry for any typo's very long day guys thanks again!

Re: 305 n20 carb questions

well with a nitrous kit is suppies the fuel through the spray bar under the carburator. it tees into your fuel line just after the fuel pump so it is under presure and when you press your nitrous engagement switch it will open the sylinoid allowing the fuel in the spray bar and will be dispersed under your carburator, so your carburator has nothing to do with the secondary fuel added by the nitrous systems. the 600cfm will work fine most entry level kits are built for a simple bolt up and go i would suggest that you take some timing off your engine about 1 and a half degrees for ever 50 hp gained from nitrous. and go with at least 1 step colder spark plugs. i hope this helps if not ask any question you may have.

Re: 305 n20 carb questions

I run a 305 with a 600cfm Holley and nitrous, it does wake the car up nicely. I have an extra electric fuel pump that feed the spray bar just for a bit of extra safety. I have a 100 shot at the moment. I am installing a nitrous controller and I'm going to try for 150 at some stage.
