91RS V-6 to 5.7 carb how to hook up the stock gauge
I have a 91 RS, which had the 3.1L. I pull the engine and installed a 350 Carb. Can use the original engine harness for the gauges, I also have a ignition box. I know i have to install a v8 cluster 145mph which i want.

Well i plan on installing a dash cluster with the 145 mph. Now the question is can i use the v6 harness going to the fire wall.

not sure -- you would have to check the paths of the printed circuit on the new cluster to see if the wire that hooks to that terminal leads to the same gauge as on the old cluster....

I'see. I hate wire's. now if i remove the cluster and cut out the plastic part of the dash. How hard will it be to get to the firewall and install mechanial gauges. You think that will be easier? Since you mentioned the circuits, which was design for V6 car. I don't want to tear the whole dash apart.

personally, I would rather make the new cluster with the electronic gauges work, it will be a much cleaner look and it is possible. Mechanical gauges tacked on somewhere around the dash just look a little ghetto to me..... just my 2 cents.

The engine side wire harness will have the same connections for V8 or V6 for things like oil pressure, temp, Alt ect. The color codes for the wires also remain the same. Since you are swapping to a V8 gauge cluster you will have solved the problem with the tach. I would think the connectors should be the same but it would be good to check. All color codes for wires are the same for V6 and V8 cars so that makes it a little easier.

Not sure about the later Camaros, but the early ones ('82-'89?) had the same circuits for all of the gauges, regardless of V6, V8, carb, EFI, etc. (except the digital dash Berlinettas).
I'm not as familiar with the later Camaros. Did they have a 145 MPH speedo? I thought that was only the earlier ones.
