Needle seat kits
Needle seat kits
This 305 quadrajet needs a lot of help. It's flooding like mad and it runs fine for a while then just decides to flood again. Just replaced the fuel pump because it was bad from sitting too long. I think the carb is gunked up as well. Will definitely try some cleaner but I think the needle, seat and float may need replaced. Only problem is there are a lot of different parts out there for these quadrajets. Here's a website I found, but not sure if these are the right parts:

The car is an 87 LT, so I believe that is a CCC Quad, right? When I searched for float and needle part numbers on the forum I don't find much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all!

Re: Needle seat kits
Those usually come as part of a "rebuild kit", which includes all the other stuff that (a) goes bad with time the same way and for the same reason as the needle valve, and (b) gets destroyed as part of changing out the needle valve.
You can just get one at the parts store, listed by application (model, year, engine, etc.).

You may want to purchase a new float while you're in there, which doesn't come in the kit. Need any help, just post.
Biggest thing when tearing down is to count the turns to seat the MCS hold down screw, which is the lead stop adjustment. Do this so that it can be re-installed to the same adjustment point.

Yes, all 81-newer Quadrajets on GM cars (not trucks) are CCC.
Sounds like you need a full rebuild kit. IIRC, Delco doesn't even make them anymore, so you'll have to go with a parts store brand more than likely. I used a NAPA kit on my dad's '80 Corvette a few years ago and had no problems.
I would STRONGLY recommend a new float and float needle kit as well. Try to get the brass one if you have an option, they're less susceptible to breaking down and filling up with fuel. Getting the float properly adjusted and getting the needle properly seated is a PITA, but is essential to the car running correctly.

Re: Needle seat kits
I've not seen a brass float option for the ccc-qjet.
Try RA for a rebuild kit. I picked up several on 'close out' a few month back for like $5 each.
No I don't work for them.

Re: Needle seat kits
Thanks for the replies. In my searches I did read that the plastic floats werent as good as the brass and since they didnt come with a rebuild kit was going to just get the parts needed. Might just get the rebuild kit and a float. Thanks all. After I break it Im sure I will have more questions heh
