High Idle
Hello everyone,
I'm working on a 1987 Formula 5.0. I'm currently having problems with a high idle (2k rpm). No trouble lights or anything else come on. The idle stays high while driving and after warm up. How do I get this down?
Also, I have zero experience with carburetors, is there somewhere I can read up on their operation?
Thanks.

Re: High Idle
DON'T TOUCH THE CARB JUST YET.
Check your Vacuum Hoses conections. You should have a vacuum hose schematic label on or around the upper radiator fan shroud. After working on, or cleaning around the engine, it's easy to disconnect one of these little hoses. I have done this many times in the 28 years that I have owned my '83. Same thing.... RPM at 2k... can't kick the carb down even after warming up.... Take your air cleaner off and just start checking all vac lines.
