Rebuild quadrajet

Hi everyone!

I have a 1984 Trans Am all stock LG4 Engine 305.

My carb is bad. I don´t have time to rebuild it. I´m not from usa so shipping is quite expensive.

I want to buy a rebuild one. I need a bolt on and drive carb.
I can only set the idle screws.

In my country nobody knows about ccc quadrajets.

Can you tell me a good rebuilder where i can buy a rebuild one?

What do you think about ebay?

Also my second question: I must make a new fuel line from pump to carb.

I know its a 3/8 line but with what fittings on the end?

Is this 3/8???

Hope you can help me in that.

Cliff Ruggles at Cliffs High Performance rebuilt my carb. I sent mine to him, but he also sells them. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Great work.

You can also buy from Jet Performance http://www.jetchip.com/jet_carburetors.asp

You can also contact Robin Grey at "AutoPontiac" in London, he can rebuild or get one there that might be easier on shipping. AutoPontiac

Re: Rebuild quadrajet

If the shops don't have one I suppose you could find someone on here parting out the same year as you have and have the carb and line shipped to the re-builder and then shipped to you. One thing to look out for is if the throttle bore is worn out, and the shop should mention that. Another common issue is that the fuel inlet can erode over time. It can be quite expensive to have a CC Quad built and an after market might be worth checking into. I know of a local place as well that used to rebuild for the dealerships but I doubt they have an exact match sitting around.

I've actually had 2 carbs, one from Jet Performance that I put on my 305. I didn't have to really do any tuning, it was pretty much "bolt on and go" for the 305. When I did the engine swap, it was well out of tune, so I sent it in to have Cliff Rebuild it. Now, when you get it back from cliff, it'll have a really rough tune on it so you will need to "fine tune it" once it's on your car. He told me he puts it on a motor that they have on a dyno and checks it for operation, leaks and performance, but that means it's not tuned to your car. I"m sure the Jet carb was checked in a similar fashion but the stock build probably made it easier to just bolt on and go.

Before I swapped to the 355, I was getting 22-24mpg with my old 305.

After the engine swap, I'm getting 19mpg on the highway at 70mph (115kph- ish) and 12 mpg in town (no highway).
