FUEL SYSTEM HELP
Hello TGO,
I am currently in need of a fuel system for my 84 Z 28. Engine is a 383 with a 750 holley double pumper. I want to use an in tank fuel pump that can handle 460 HP. Also wondering if stock size 3/8 fuel line is OK for this application.
Thanks Frank

Re: FUEL SYSTEM HELP
Then, get a Mallory 4309 Adjustable fuel pressure regulator and mount it in your engine bay. Run the hoses as appropriate to hook it up, get a fuel pressure gauge to mount in the spot on the regulator and adjust the fuel down to 5.5psi. Make sure to keep the return line hooked up properly.
The 3/8" fuel line should be fine for your application.
That's it in a nut-shell. You may need to adjust the fuel pressure if you find you're running out of gas and if the stock line truly isn't large enough, you can always run braided hoses to replace the stock lines.
Hope that helped!

Re: FUEL SYSTEM HELP
Get a wahlboro 255lph fuel pump for in your tank. Get an electric pump sending unit from a later year car and install it with the new pump. You'll need to run wiring, unless your car has an in-tank pusher pump, that circuit might run the new pump if it's functional or, like me, just get a fuel pump relay kit from Jegs or Summit.

Re: FUEL SYSTEM HELP
Essentially, yes.
My set up is:
Mild build 355, 315hp, so not as powerful as your motor.
255lph in-tank pump, Mallory 4907 pump (I mistakenly bought the Marine version), return line is hooked up, CC Quadrajet Carb. If you use braided hoses, you want -06AN lines and fittings. Also, the Mallory uses NPT fittings, so you'll need -an to NPT fittings if you go that route, otherwise NPT-barbed and use the rubber hoses and clamp them down.
I have my pressure set to 5.5-6psi and that's almost too much, I get a little bit of leakage around the gaskets on the carb, enough to make them "wet" but not leak down on the manifold.

Re: FUEL SYSTEM HELP
Here is the regulator set up.
From the 3/8" hardline that coems from the tank, I have a 3/8" rubber hose that goes to the intake side of the regulator (Top right side of the regulator). I do have a fuel filter inserted here, you can see it peeking out behind the strut tower mount, just to the left of the accumulator.
Out the bottom I have a 5/16" return line that goes from the bottom of the regulator to the hard return line.
Out the exit, I modified it a bit, running a -06AN steel braided line and adapters to the carb.
Just above the stainless line you can see the blocked off vacuum port. Also, between the intake and exit lines I have a holley fuel pressure gauge mounted to the regulator.
Hope this helps!
