how do are throttle cables connect?
I have a 86 iroc swapped from tpi to carb and got a shorter throttle cable and I have no idea on how to change one need some help
Re: how do are throttle cables connect?
That can't be the right cable. This is what it looks like (it's on my 1990 454SS truck, but GM used this style of carb connection since the mid 70s):

OK, so that photo stinks. If it was at all legible you'd see the throttle cable end is nothing but an eyelet with a hole that slides over a matching-sized stud and is retained by either a special clip (factory-style throttle cable stud) or a cotter pin or some such contrivance (as is the case with my aftermarket unit). Here's what the stud looks like and where it goes in a Holley throttle arm:

You can't see it in the photos but the cable head where it clips into the throttle cable bracket behind the carb is square. Order a cable for an 86 Camaro with the 5.0L CARBURETED (LG4) engine and you'll have what you need. Proper style throttle cable stud you can get from Holley, Edlebrock or a bunch of different places. Throttle cable BRACKET is the real key to all this. Adapting a factory one is often frustrating when using an aftermarket carb intake. Much better to get an aftermarket (adjustable) one that bolts to the carb instead of the intake manifold. That way you can easily swap it over no matter what intake you're using.
