Update: “Yet another bogging Q-Jet...”
First of all, I’d like to that you guys (black85camaro, F-BIRD'88, VampireHunterC, z28onTweenkies) for your help…
I tried messing around with the idle/choke/etc but finally realized that it wasn’t getting me anywhere. After taking the car/carb to 3 different places and pretty much getting the same diagnostics from all of them, I finally decided to take the easy way out and buy a new/remanufactured Q-Jet…
Since I don’t know much of anything about carbs, I can’t exactly remember what was the problem (and I couldn’t describe it to you without sounding like an idiot). All I know is that it was running rich, and had been for at least 18 months. Prolly more. But I guess my cat is ok because I passed the smog test at the test-only a.k.a. gross polutant test facility with flying colors!
