Should I get a Open Element Air Filter?

I read somewhere it helps out with performance, when i mentioned to my dad that I wanted one he said that something about a heater doesnt fit into the filter? and doesnt heat it up so it takes longer for the engine to warm up. I don't know if i described that correctly. Is there away to make this work?

I wouldn't do it. I didn't so much notice my engine not warming up fast enough, but that the car felt a little sluggish in heavy traffic. It had a little bit of a flat spot off idle that wasn't there with the snorkel. If you can find one, get a dual snorkle intake from an L-69 equipped Z-28. It flows more air than your current one, won't have the flat spot, retains the heat stove, and looks sweet.
