help with hooking up carb
Rochester 2 jet carb. Currently on an 85' 350 out of a K10. I've got 2 ports that I do't know where they go, see pictures. I think the one coming from the manifold goes to the brake booster, is that correct? Can't get this damn thing running with lines hanging everywhere. Thanks!

Re: help with hooking up carb
The brake booster should come from the hard line at the base of the carb in the back. What is it hooked up to now?
It looks like your other two ports are going to the choke pull-off and the distributor vacuum advance, like they should be.
What is the manifold port hooked to now? Looks like it goes the the EFE valve ("heat riser" valve on the exhaust manifold in lingo from days gone by). The HVAC controls came off of a port on the carb base in 3rd gens, but that 2 Jet doesn't have that port, it would appear. I'd hook it to the manifold port.
What lines do you have "hanging everywhere"? About all that carb needs is the two you have hooked up now - if it isn't hooked up (like evap canister, cruise control, HVAC, etc.), it shouldn't affect how the engine runs with that old carb. Also no vacuum leaks.
I'd suspect the problem is elsewhere - like the carb itself (it looks a little long in the tooth).

do you have spark? i only ask because i see a black wire going to the HEI. might not mean anything as long as it has power.

Funny you say that, it was the wrong wire (it did have power though) and I found the actual wire behind the motor by the flexplate and swapped them. And thank you for your help five7kid, everything is hooked up properly and running well. I was mostly worried about running lean from vacuum leaks but that is all sorted out. Thanks!
