No Acceleration Power

Hello, I am new to this site and just recently bought my 84 Camaro Z28. I have some car knowledge but wanting to learn more. I am having a problem with the car where it will start and idle just fine but as soon as I put it in gear and give it some gas, it will bog down. The car will eventually get going but a very sluggish pace. There are no fuel leaks and recently passed the state emissions test. When in park and idling, I can give it all the gas I want and it will be just fine. Only bogs down in gear. Can someone please help me figure this out?? Thanks in advance!

Re: No Acceleration Power

Assuming this is a stock (computer Q-Jet) carb:

How did you "check" one of those?

Re: No Acceleration Power

It does have the stock QuadraJet Carb on it. I'm not 100% what to check on it. Can you please be more specific?

Re: No Acceleration Power

The fuel filter is inside the big nut thing that the fuel line screws into on the front of the carb. It's about 1¼" long and maybe 5/8" dia.

Be careful when "checking" it; it's SUUUUUUUPER EEEEEEEEZY to destroy the fuel line if you don't support the big nut while unscrewing the fuel line from it so you can get it out and change out the filter. (which is THE ONLY way to "check" it)

Re: No Acceleration Power

Oh sorry, yes I pulled it and inspected it. It looked brand new (just like the one in the box that I had just bought in case).

Put in the new one and see what happens.

Re: No Acceleration Power

I have this exact same problem... 83 v6 and idles fine, as soon as you put it in gear it dies.

The first thing I did was change the fuel filter and there was no change.

Everything else appears to be correct...not sure what else to try.
