Does anyone here have a 1405 Edelbrock Carburetor???
Does anyone here have a 1405 Edelbrock Carburetor???
It's currently hooked up to a 1974 350 V8 with 1972 corvette 327 heads. It's got a crane cam, and an Edelbrock Intake, as well as a set of old Hooker Headers (kinda rusty looking).
For my application, is this 600 CFM carburtor good?
My other question is, I have no attachements for this carb right now, it's straight out of the box (got it free). So I don't have a choke, or throttle cable connections.. nothing... any idea what all I need to get?
Thanks!!

Im not a fan of edelbrock but thats a good carb (in a sence).
It has larger jets than a 1406.
Your probably going to need that choke. Carter sells an electric choke kit that will work it $35 or you can just get a generic old school pull choke $15 One problem I see is if you engine is a screamer that carbs going to run lean at WOT, If it does you probably should get a calibration kit for a 1407 or 1408 so you can get the larger jets but use the stock metering rods.

The Edelbrock 1405 is a squarebore carb which should bolt to your Edel.intake no problem. You might need the throttle/tv cable bracket if you plan to run a automatic. If you run a drop base aircleaner, you will probably need to buy the banjo fitting for the fuel inlet so it will clear. The 1405 has a manual choke but like the guy said, you can buy the electric choke kit.I just ran a choke cable through the speedo grommet and made a bracket for it under the dash. You'll need a in-line fuel filter also because it has no filter in the carb like a Q-jet.These carbs are VERY sensitive to dirt so don't forget to run a filter. The throttle return springs pull in the opposite direction so you'll have to figure something out to hook them to.I found the throttle was real stiff so rather than run just one spring, which is dangerous as hell,i used another spring to pull backwards and counter the stiff pedal alittle.Once the little problems were sorted out,my 1405 was real dependable,it used abit more gas than i like,(about 5 mpg less than my present setup),but had instant throttle response.I had a problem not chirping my everytime i took off
