TPI Systems

I'm new to the game... Just picked a 91 Z28 with a 305 and an automatic transmission. I'm looking to replace the 305 with a 383 but have been told that my current TPI system isn't spittin enough juice to do justice to the bigger engine. The general consensus is to switch to carbs but I have been told there are TPI systems out there that will outrun the carb. Anyone ever heard of a TPI blowing 1000cfm? If so where? My preference is the injectors but I'm looking for the best performance in the end. Any comments please?

Resist the Dark Side. Yeah, I'm a carb guy, but that's because that's what came with the cars. There's a mostly complete TPI setup in my garage attic. If the car had come with it, that's what I would have worked over.

Your better answers will come from the TPI board, but you'll need higher flowing components such as base, runners, plenum, & TB (#'s 1 & 3 can be ported to accomplish that objective). You'll also need larger injectors (most likely), adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and custom PROM.

Up front, it'll cost more to stay with TPI. Down the road, you'll get better driveability, better mileage, cleaner running (especially important if emissions is an issue), and you'll be using later technology.
