Hello guys, this is my first post new to this site, Just bought a 1984 firebird and wanted to restore it car was purchased from original owner and had been sitting for years, only has 80k miles, I change oil, air filter and sparkplugs and took it to get it smog and they said it was running to rich and wouldnt pass, then after $100 for a diagnostic hey said the carb was bad, i need the car to pass smog in californina, and will like to know what are my options do I have to buy a stock carb and if so I am not sure which one is the one I need, I have a v8 305 engine auto transmission any help will be appreciated thanks

 

emissions test with this vehicle in cali ...not a good day .
possible the vapor control valve is defective .. the vapor system sucks vapors from canister .. this type setup I had problems with as it sucked liquid gas into the manifold thru this control valve.. so check that the gas is not getting thru this into the hose into the intake ..make sure the air cleaner air temp control is working need 110F air temp in the air cleaner housing .

post the cali emission report .. good luck .
