Little Green Peg Fell Out

1987 305 Quadrajet rebuild and this little dude just falls onto the floor!

In the middle of rebuilding my CCC Quadrajet and a little green peg fell off the carb and I can't figure out where it came from or where it goes. It's definitely not listed as a part on the rebuild sheet and Im at a loss. If anybody can help me figure this out, I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Little Green Peg Fell Out

It is definitely on the sheet.

It is part # 60 on this diagram, up near the top right... it is the actuator for the Throttle Position Sensor.

Oops, I'm an idiot. The NAPA sheet I have has that part WAY up at the top so I must have missed it. I have a follow up though, does this just sit nicely in the well on the airhorn and rest against the TPS? It doesn't seem like there's a way to really secure it.

Re: Little Green Peg Fell Out

It just fits into a bore on the AH.Slightly behind TPS plunger, close to the pivot point on the TPS arm, sits above the TPS itself. If the green seal is worn, it will just fall out.

Re: Little Green Peg Fell Out

Same thing happened to me when I rebuilt my carb. Little sucker bounced off my work table when it fell out then hit the floor before I even got a good look what it was that came tumbling out. Spent about 5 minutes on the floor looking for it and I didn't even know what I was looking for, lol.

BTW - awesome username!
