Advice Needed!!!
I have a 91 RS with 110,000 miles on the stock L03, Ive had the car for a year with no mechanical problems. I have decided that its time for the car to make some power and have devised a plan. So far it includes:
Holley 750 Double Pumper
Unsure of intake
Accel Distributor and Coil
Vortec Heads
Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Cam (the cam used in Car Crafts 305 buildup)
I need advice about intake selection also what are peoples opinions on this setup?
Thanks for any help

What tranny is in your car? What gear ratio are you running? These two will help you decide which cam will best suit your ride, among other factors on your car.Give Comp a call on their cam help line, these guys are a big help.Going by your combo I would recommend the Vortec intake by Edelbrock being as it is the only one you can run with those heads.Otherwise it sounds like a decent combo and should be fun.
More Info
Ive got the T5 tranny that might be needing a rebuild in the near future and the 3.08 peg leg rear.
Does it look like Im missing anything that would make this combination better?
Thanks Again

heads
yea your right the heads needed to be milled to keep the compression ratio up. I dont know if your familiar with the article in Car Craft a while ago but they got 325 hp out of an lg4 with the bolt ons im lookin at. I think i should be able to expect similar numbers from the l03

ya i am
was in the exact same situation as you and was going to do as you are, but then i found a vortec headed 350 crate motor at a resonable price and went that way
the shops around me werent very helpful when i told them how much i wanted to mill off those heads, they didnt seem to want anything to do with it
however besides this i think it could make a really good combo

With Vortec heads, your choice of intakes is severely limited. The springs that come with the heads will not take the lift of that cam. The carb is too big for a 305.
Get some real 305 heads, World Products S/R Torquer 305. Buy them unassembled, do a pocket porting job on them (or the full Standard Abrasives workover like I did). They have screw-in studs and the springs will take the lift of that cam. Any standard intake, factory or aftermarket, will fit those heads. The ZZ4 intake I'm using will accept either square or spread bore carbs.
You also need to do something about the exhaust.
