anything else I would need?

I have an 89 RS camaro with just the exhaust done. By March I want to remove the TBI and hook up a holley 600 with a edelbrock proformance manifold and accel distrubtor.
Also I was wondering what kind of performance I would be getting.

Thanks

Gaining performance just by bolting on a carb is a myth.

A carb might be able to help you take advantage of other modifications, such as a higher RPM cam. But, you aren't talking about that.

Before a carb would produce more power out of an LO3, you'd have to at least replace the heads and cam. What exactly has been done to your exhaust may or may not be adequate, either - if it's intended for an LO3, then the answer is probably not.

You'd be better off improving your TBI.

dont forget, you'll have to rig up a switch to manually lock up your converter.

I'd have to disagree quite heartily there. I've done carb swaps on otherwise bone stock LO3s...the improvment is impressive.

No a carb doesn't have some black magic that makes more power...but converting does eliminate a whole lot of problems in one sweep that you don't need a big cam and exaust to realize.

You get rid of that crappy kinked bend tiny runner small plenumed truck manifold.

A stock TBI only flows ~400 cfm IIRC. Even a stock 305 will choke on that.

You get rid of the absoltly pathetic fuel/spark tables a stock TBI prom uses.

Don't waste your time trying to improve your TBI..it's a dead duck. kick it to the curb at your earliest convienience.

That by itself will not solve the problem. Overdrive transmissions need the torque converter to be locked to avoid burning up on the street. The ECM currently handles the responsibility, but if you do away with it, you will need some sort of switch to accomplish it.
