Q-jet spring

I’ve read that the fuel filter should have a spring next to it but when I replaced my filter I did not see a spring or a gasket. Should I purchase one? Not certain what purpose it has.

Re: Q-jet spring

the spring should be inserted first. It presses the little rubber gasket on the filter against the fuel inlet, keeps it sealed so fuel has to go through the filter.

Thanks for the reply. I’ll order one.
