W.O.T. problem in cc carb
W.O.T. problem in cc carb
I bought a carb built for a 350 off ebay. and when i first put it on it would not start cold so i read the post and swapped the vacum pull off on the my old carb to the new one and that fixed the cold start problem. (Thank You). But, since i did that the car doesn't wind up like it use too. I can't seem to hit wot. does the a/v flap need adjusting or what ? Before I repaired the cold start when the car was warmed up it would haul a** now it starts good but won't open up all the way. Help
Make sure the little rod that comes off the back of the vacuum pull-off canister that you replaced does not restrict the full opening of the secondary air valves. With the engine OFF, you should be able to open the air valves fully without that little pushrod preventing full opening.
If this is not the case you need to BEND the rod slightly at the 90* bend near the air valve-end of the rod.
To properly set the rod length you want to FULLY RETRACT the vacuum pull-off (hand vacuum pump or simply start the engine). Now bend the rod so that there is just a TINY BIT of play in the air valves. You should be able to open the air valves just a degree or two before the rod prevents further opening. That' it. It's now properly adjusted.

wot problem
Well I did the adjustment on the vacum break arm like you said and i adjusted the a/v flap to 0 tension it runs better but there still is not that great acceleration i had with the other vacum break. So, tomorrow i am going to switch them back and see if i can still get that great wot. I compared the plunger movement on both pieces and the good starting one has a lot more resistance than the other. But the car runs alot better warmed up with the one with only a little resistance. I will let you know my progress.

carb fixed
i went ahead and swapped back the other vacum break and done. I have it all now i checked the linkage and now this vacum break works. and it starts up cold . it seems this vacum break has a diffrent part number on it. i dont know but now it is runnning great at wot. and i ran it hard on the freeway today, and now the rough idle seems to be gone i thought it was dirt in carb qpprently it was.
thanks for the help.
